What is the best software for recording calls made with VoIP phones in an office? We have come across a situation where we would like to record some phone calls made in the workplace through our soft VoIP phones. Optimally, this software would be able to run on a computer connected to the same network without having to install anything on the server - however, I am not opposed to any solutions including the server. We're using Avaya VoIP phones that go directly into our network.
Can you use reverse phone number lookup on VOIP phones? Why does the government insist on taxing VOIP phones? Everytime it is brought up, they mention unfairness to traditional phone companies that have to pay the Line tax. The thing that is never mentioned: VOIP users ALREADY pay for this tax on the internet service! If you tax the VOIP aspect, you are taxing the user TWICE for the same thing! Why is the argument more v. less taxes and not the simple unfairness of this double taxation?

Can I use IP phones on my internal network without VOIP service? I need a pbx style phone system in my business but I dont have the funds for a traditional system. Does Broadband Talk enable me to call other VOIP phones? I have recently connected via the BT Broadband home hub and received the dedicated phone. I can call all my usual contacts but am unable to phone other VOIP phones. I called the BT Helpline but, quite honestly, they seem to know nothing at all about Broadband talk (didn't even know what I meant by VOIP or SKYPE). Can anyone tell me whether I can or cannot call other internet phones (if so, what am i doing wrong?) Thanks Hi and many thanks for all the help. Unfortunately, I'm still a little confused - the general opinion seems to be that I should be able to call VOIP (assuming the person I'm trying to call has a "number" that I can dial) - am I correct so far? But how is that different to "PC based VOIP" that I can't call? Sorry to be dumb but before I go back to the mind-numbing process of calling the BT helpline, I need to be sure of my understanding. Thanks again

What is the average unit cost per phone for a 5 - 50 unit VOIP setup? I'm getting ready to contract out the installation of a VOIP phone system in our offices. Initially we need 10 units, but will need to expand up to 50 within the next 2 years. On average, what should I expect the initial install and future upgrades to cost? Ideally, I'd like to break this down to a per unit cost, which I know will be higher with fewer phones and lowers as the cost is deferred across more phones. Thanks

Do usb phones / headsets work with all voip services? I use yahoo voice and I love it, and I'm looking into getting a cordless handset and also a bluetooth wireless earpiece for my phone calls. I've only noticed very few voip phones that specifically say they work with yahoo. Does this mean that if it doesn't specifically say it works with yahoo voice, that it won't? For example, if I purchased a voip phone that says it "works with skype and other voip services" does this mean it will work with yahoo phone? Also, for bluetooth headsets and earpieces, will all of these work with my yahoo voice service? (Yes, my computer supports bluetooth.) Thanks in advance!

Wireless VoIP phones? I am looking for a name BRAND (Linksys, Logitech, Belkin, Phillips, etc) that I can connect to my laptop thru the USB port. For those who use VOIP phones or Skype in place of landline...? What will you do if there is an emergency and need 911 assistance? Do you have any back up plan? Also anyone use wifi phone for Skype? I wouldn't want to attach to my computer when I receive or call out. What is the reception or call quality? Thanks for any input. The website says I get local phone number and caller ID and all but it didn't say that I can receive the phone call. Also does the phone needs to be connected to the computer to get the phone call? If it wasn't connected, would it go to voice mail? Thanks. Roger, what do you mean by you will not be affected by power outage? What kind of power back up do you have?

I need information about VOIP phones please.? I have an internet provider that will sell me the adaptor or whatever I need for about $85 plus postage. Dick Smith Electronics sells the adaptors for between $65 and $145 each. I don't want to buy one that will be inadequate or inferior, but neither do I want to spend top dollar if it is not warranted. I am on a pension. Can anyone please help me with information, part numbers and prices? I live in Adelaide, South Australia. Are the people who are using VOIP happy with the service? Thanks kerry328 for your feedback, greatly appreciated.
Voip vs. land phones, how about cell phones? A couple of years ago, I worked for a Voip company as a Tech Support. People were saying that in the very near future, all will be going to Voip mode/ style. This is because 1) much bugs about Voip will be worked out, and 2) this is much cheaper in making phone calls. Are we there yet, or has cell phones taken over?

Is there any other VOIP service that allows you to use your existing phones in your house like Charter does? I am currently on Charter Digital Telephone (VOIP) and they issued me a Arris Touchstone Modem which allows me to use all of my existing telephone wiring and phones. Problem is though Charters' telephone service stopped working. I am in the 30 day trail period and was thinking of canceling and just opting to use either Vonage, Packet 8, ATT Callvantage, Verizon's VOIP service, or some other VOIP service but I was wondering which one allows you to use your existing house phones without doing any modding to the house phone wiring just simply plugging a telephone wire into any telephone jack like Charters touchstone modem allows you to. Anyone know of a VOIP service that allows you to use your exisiting house telephones?
