What phone/internet service should I choose? I am starting a small business.....HELP!!!? I have researched every service that I can think of including: Qwest Cox Verizon Cingular AT&T I only need a cell phone, a business phone, or a VoIP phone. I also need at least 512 Kbps bandwidth on the internet. I need to know if the software works on Mac and Windows. I also want to know if the service is good. If you have experience please let me know. I would like to know if they treat you nicely when you have questions, and whether their tech support knows what they are talking about. I also need to know if the company has good rates, and why you think so, (please give me a comparison).......
Suggestions for VOIP phone service to replace Vonage? I heard that Vonage is going bankrupt. I have service with them right now and LOVE the fact that I can have my cell phone simultaneously ring when someone calls my vonage number, and that if the internet is down, it will forward to my cell phone. Are there any other VOIP services that do the same thing?

Best VOIP service to use in Iraq: Skype, Yahoo Phone, or what? I've asked this before, but I am trying to get more of a responce. Help a brother out... I'm going back to Iraq soon and I want to try another pc based phone service. The internet connection over there is usually not very good, but it can have some good spells. Last time I used a service called "PC Phone." It was ok and I could receive calls or make calls to a land line phone for a decent price. How does SKYPE and Yahoo's phone service compair in terms of QUALITY & RELIABILITY? Is there a better pc based service that is better and in the same price range? If you were in Iraq and used a particular service, good or bad, let me know. Thanks.
wireless internet service cannot work on voip adapter? I am using bell high speed unplugged internet service, it is good since I can bring it to any city in canada and get internet use, but it do not work with voip phone adapter, they said it is due to port 5060, skype is ok but it do has phone # in canada, is there any suggestion how to make it work?
How to get internet without phone line? I switched to ATT VOIP and since my internet was running through my home phone number, I reduced my home phone services to just basic and internet. My bill runs about $60 for the basic line and cable, plus I'm paying $22 for the VOIP. I love the VOIP, but I need to know how I can keep the internet and get rid of the unused basic phone line. I called ATT to find out if I can just keep the internet service and get rid of the basic phone line, but the price to do that (dry internet) is higher than what I'm paying now...I need to reduce my bill
Has anyone had a VoiP service and had their phone call cut out.? I am not sure if it is our phone or our service. We have ATT CallVantage and while we are talking on the phone it cuts off both parties from hearing each other. It doesn't disconnect the call it only interrupts the conversation. I have cable internet with 4mb service if that matters.
Phone & Internet service in Winchester VA? I am moving to Winchester VA and want to find a phone & internet service that is NOT Verizon. I cannot have VOIP because of my job, so Comcast is out. Anyone have any suggestions?
Will US VOIP phone gizmo work in India? I'm in the US and have VOIP phone service through Sunrocket. If I take the little black gizmo with me to India and connect it to my relative's cable internet service, will I effectively have a US phone number in India?
Internet Phone Not Working? My internet phone service is VOIP. The problem is sometimes happens. My internet works but the phone doesn't. I heard you have to do something but they don't really explain it well. Please help :[
Looking for Voip phone service? which one is the best? Hello, i currently dont have home phone line, only 2mb internet access with Bell. I want to try Voip to make and receive calls local calls only. (Im from Toronto). I saw that Primus talkbroadband home phone have nice prices, really cheap (16 dollars) but i read only bad feedbacks about them in google. Which one is the best in quality/price for me? I want just call and receive local calls maybe 1 or 2 features nothing else at the cheapest price possible with a good quality. Thanks!
Broadband Phone & Broadband Internet? I want broadband phone service and broadband internet service all from the same company that way i receive just 1 bill. I don't want to get a broadband phone from a different company and to keep staying with my ATT net service because i don't want to receive two different bills every month. Is there any companies out there that offer broadband Phone ( VoiP ) and Broadband Internet in a package?
Voice Over Internet Phone Serivce? Is there a Voip (Voice Over Internet Phone) service, out there that is good, and that does not require any equipment, something I can just sign up for, download the phone program to my computer, and make phone calls, nothing prepaid, something that has a once a month bill, if there is something out there, please let me know I am trying to find something like netzero, not skype or the yahoo phone service, but just like netzero, where u can download a phone program, and it would be a voip Voice Over Internet Phone, not skype, im her in iraq right now and the internet is not that great for skype, I need a Voip with not needing equipment
VOIP phone services? I'm looking for a VOIP company that works. I've had Vonage, Time Warner cable, and can't maintain a stable dial tone, which causes my internet to drop. I'm now looking at Power Phone.
Questions about VOIP Providers, Service, Quality, & Tech Questions? I'm considering changing my regular home phone service (phone co.) to Cable Telephone (Comcast) or possibly a VoiP service like Skype or Sunrocket. Comcast says a big advantage of their service is the battery backup which keeps the service available for 8 hours if power goes out. Otherwise I think it's just the same as having the regular phone service - no special phones, all extentions work, etc. Skype & Sunrocket are a LOT cheaper, but are they better? Worse? Some questions about VOIP services before I take the plunge: With VoiP will I totally lose phone service if my power or my internet connection goes out? Even though we have cable internet, sometimes it is really, really slow. How would that affect a VoiP phone service like Skype? I'm sure you'd lose service if power fails, or if your computer or modem craps out. Has this been a problem for you? Do all your existing extentions work? Is sound quality great? Other advantges or disadvantages? THANKS!!
Why does my internet say "Limited or No Connnectivity" when trying to use VoIP? I just purchased JoiPhone (similiar to Vonage, etc). I have followed the step-by-step instructions to the T. My internet connection speed at this moment says 100.0 Mbps. Once I connect the JoiPhone equipment, the connection decreases to 10 Mbps and says I have limited access to the internet (when in reality I have no access). What is causing this to disable my internet? How do I make this stupid phone service work? I obviously don't have a phone to call tech support. I am using Atlantic Broadband Cable Internet.... I've never used VoIP before and know nothing about it. I have powered down all devices including my computer 4 times already. I made sure that the ethernet cables are in the right places and everything is connected securely. Thanks for any advice. thank you. I don't have a router, I am plugged into my cable modem. once i plug into the VoIP adapter, i lose internet connection, it can't find an IP address. I will have to call them tomorrow, thanks.
Does anyone have experience with using this service via satellite? My research indicates that there is a built-in latency, i.e. a delay, using VoIP with satellite internet service, like Starband or Wild Blue. The delay makes internet phone undesirable.and unusable. Would there be the same problem using Yahoo Phone if one has satellite connectivity to the internet?
Cheating spouse... What would you do if you were me? This is a follow up to this question.... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071020181940AAFGqaX&r=w Gonna be long-winded. I apologize and appreciate that y'all may not like reading this. No hard feelings. I checked the call-log in my husband's phone and got the phone number of the person he was talking to when he said what I posted in my other question (link above). I decided that I had to find out for sure before making any accusations. So I created a VOIP (Internet phone service) account and chose the same number as hers with the only difference being one number off on the area code. I figured my husband wouldn't notice the one different digit. I used that phone number to send him text messages pretending to be "the other woman". This is the conversation: me ("the other woman"): r u still awake? changed my mind. i do wanna give u a chance. my husband: yea, i'm here. do u mean it? me: YES!! i'm @ home. can u come over? i want u & need u. my husband: do u really want me 2 come? me: i said YES. can u please come? i'm already naked. my husband: damn right. c u when i get there. I was pretending to be asleep when he finally came down stairs. The chair he usually sits in is positioned where he couldn't see me on the couch. So I opened my eyes to observe him after he sat down. He had his head in his hand. He went back upstairs after a few minutes. He never went anywhere. Of course, I knew then that he had at least been talking sh*t to some woman. I finally decided that I'd call her and see what she had to say. She told me that they hadn't done anything physical other than long hugs, that she works with him, that they have been talking on the phone and having lunch together for a few months And she said that he told her he was married but was filing for divorce soon. I was very polite and let her know that I don't blame her, that I blame HIM and just want answers. She thanked me, told me that she had no idea he's still with his wife, and promised to leave him alone. Not much time went by before she called me claiming to have spoken with a co-worker. She suggested that I look through his things to see if I could find his last work evaluation. We were cut off before she could continue, but I took her advice. His work evaluation included a write-up (for inappropriate behavior) which basically said that he had been leading on female co-workers and then "dropping" them. Well, after he woke up, I busted him (but only on the fake text messaging and not about the rest). He admitted to pretending to take women up on offers and coming onto women. He pretty much repeated the contents of his evaluation but in different words. He went on to explain that he has been allowing attention to "go to his head". (He's been working out for a while and has been getting more "play" from women.) He claims that he never intended to do anything physical with anyone but was instead feeding his ego. We went back and forth (with him apologizing and me yelling and tearing up the house). Ok, so I've reconciled myself with the strong possibility that he might not have done anything sexual with someone else. But now I'm distrustful. (I think I have plenty reason to be distrustful.) After all, that kind of crap can easily lead to having affairs. We've been together for several years, so I don't want to throw us away over what might have been temporary bull sh*t. But, at the same time, I don't want to set myself up for something that I could prevent right now. What would you do? Thanks for your patience and consideration.
porting your phone # to use with VOip service? hi, after porting a landline phone with DSL to a VOip service, is it normal to still have a dial tone on the old landline service or am i just suppost to have the DSL signal? Now the landline dialtone works as well as dialing but also the # was ported and can be used on the VOip service as well. Is this normal for a dry loop connection for internet only?Thanx?
Do you need phone service for DSL? I know this has been asked before, but I have some additional information that may need to have some answers justified. First of all, I am wondering if I can cancel my phone service and use the AT&T DSL (same provider for phone and Internet) without the phone service? I do not trust with the company says because I believe they are just trying to keep me a customer and get my money for services I hardly use. I want to cancel my phone service and get VOIP instead, since it's pratically cheaper that the phone service regularly. BTW, currently, we have an unpaid account and it's disconnected with the typical busy signal on the line and my DSL service still works, nevertheless. All I can hope if I do cancel it is that they don't come down here and completely disconnect the line from the system.. :/ Thanks! This system is located in Southwest Louisiana. Phone company is AT&T, which currently owns the line.
Is Comcast Triple Play (Cable,Internet,Phone) worth the money? I have Yahoo DSL, but now I have to pay for my phone line which I never use. I already have Comcast cable (50$/mo), I'm wondering if it'd be better to switch to Triple Play where each one is $33?? I mean since when does Comcast have phone? I dont need it, but I'm not too excited about VoiP service. Is Cable faster than DSL?
Is It neccesary to have a phone line to have high speed internet through AOL? I am considering going to Voip and they say you need internet (of Course) Which I am not too sure if I need a phone line to keep the high speed internet through AOL...But not too sure because a friend of mine doesnt have a phonline and he has Sympatico High Speed. Bottom line Can I cancel my Phone service and still have high speed through AOL adn get Voip? Thanks for your time Considering I already have High Speed through AOL, I wanna get Voip and ditch my Phone line, Is It possible to ditch the phone line and keep AOL and get Voip Phone service..I see no point in paying for 2 phone lines
fax on VOIP? I signed up for an Internet phone service (VOIP). My Brother, all in one, fax machine is not working. I called both companies. They said that VOIP is digital and fax is analog and it will not work! Is there a digital-anlaog converter that I can hook up to my fax? Or is there any other device that will make my fax work? Thanks.
Keeping my existing number on a new home phone service? I want to get a home phone and transfer my existing cell number to my home phone. Are there any phone services that can do this? I don't have a high speed internet connection at home so Vonage and similar VoIP services won't work for me.
Do I have to have ACTIVE landline phone service to get dsl service? I told the att rep I do not have phone service,I only have internet vonage phone service which is voip, and she still said it would work....how is this possible?I think she doesn't know what she was talking about. She said as long as one of the phone jacks works, it would be fine.Theres one thing if it works, and another if it's actually connected. They are not connected..... What does that mean? That would be great because I don't want to pay 60 bucks for cable anymore and I'm not gonna get 2 phones....can u translate for the dummies lol i just don't wanna call and cancel my order tomorrow that would suck-thanks!

I called Clearwire and all the ports are open according to them. Called ACN - they wont troubleshoot wireless cause "Technically" they don't support it ( I only got it cause several reps assured me it would /could work) I know it has to do with my router or the voip box but not sure which and I really need to use the phone for business! Is there anyone out there who has been through this and can tell me how to make it work right? I feel like I am prank calling all my friends. :) Thank you. Important Info: ACN Voip phone Service Clearwire Internet Linksys voip box/router = SPA 2102 Linksys Regular router BEFSR41 My setup goes like this: Clearwire - to - Regular Router Box - to - Voip box ( opposite of the instructions but it works) Phone plugged into voip box.
VOIP Headset? How does a VOIP (Voice over internet protocol) plug into the actually computer? It would be used for telecommunications business purposes, not like the internet phone service (example-vonage or sykpe). its just the headset that is needed not the service ok does anyone use the VOIP headset for business purposes. The one i bought just plugs into the mic and headset outlets in the computer. is that normal, will it work with interactive training?
Do you have to have dry loop for VOIP? That's basically it. If you have DSL, do you have to have a dry loop (only internet service, no phone service) service to use VOIP. We would like to keep our land line, and use VOIP "overtop" of it

Questions about DSL and voip? I want to sign up for both DSL and voip services. I currently run a long cord from my computer to a phone jack in another room, so I can use dialup. There is a phone line (jack) in the computer room, but it doesn't currently have service. I was always told that when you sign up for voip, you can get rid of your phone company anyway. But now I'm hearing that I still need my phone company to make my DSL work. I thought that I could forget about a phone company and just get DSL and voip at the same time, and then that would work fine. So what is the truth behind this? Do I still need the services of the local phone company, or not? I mean, I already have an unused phone line and I thought that the DSL would provide the internet connection, the voip would provide the phone service, and that was all I needed? I mean, the voip needs the DSL to work, and apparently the DSL needs a local dial tone to work or something...so how can the voip provider say we can get rid of our local phone company if they know their product won't work without the DSL, which won't work without a dial tone or something? Obviously, I'm technologically confused lol. Actually when you're on a 40 kbp dialup connection, DSL looks pretty good lol. I'm trying to save money wherever I can. I want the DSL so that I can research and write articles from home...on a dialup connection, it just takes too long to research, considering how little I'm being paid. And I wanted the voip to save further money. I'll look into that naked DSL...isn't it also called "freestanding"? Think I have seen it somewhere.
How do I install and use my wireless router for internet access? I've posted a similar question recently, but I still can't get everything to work together -I'm not very good with technology... Help please! We have a regular desktop computer, a cable modem, and VoIP phone service all completely installed, functioning together, good to go. Now, I just bought a new laptop and a wireless router that I want to add to all of this. I want to be able to access the internet wirelessly, with my laptop. That's not too much to ask, right? Right. But, having the VoIP phone service connections to the modem is throwing off the instructions that I should be able to follow when connecting the router. The directions don't explain what to do in my case. Does anyone have a clue and can talk me through the proper connections and what goes where???? I'd really appreciate it! BestBuy's GeekSquad will cost $160 to come to my home and do it for me.... I really don't want to pay that! A free answer from a smart person would be awesome!
How can I use my VOIP service with a wifi hotspot account? BSD I currently use road runner cable service to run my internet connection at home. I have my viatalk phone router plugged into a belkin 54 router. Is it possible to get a wifi hotspot acct (ie boingo.com) and still be able to use my viatalk account. How? Where would I plug in the viatalk phone router? How strong would the connection be???
Etisalat blocked VOIP? Hi.. I am using X-Pro for voice communication, but last days Etisalat (UAE Internet, elephone, Cell Phone Service Provider) Blocked all Voip communication, is there any way that, i can connect with VOIP server??
Why does the government insist on taxing VOIP phones? Everytime it is brought up, they mention unfairness to traditional phone companies that have to pay the Line tax. The thing that is never mentioned: VOIP users ALREADY pay for this tax on the internet service! If you tax the VOIP aspect, you are taxing the user TWICE for the same thing! Why is the argument more v. less taxes and not the simple unfairness of this double taxation?
Any good Broadband internet provider for VoIP? A month ago, I signed up for a VoIP, and dropped the homephone+DSL service from Verizon to just dryloop Verizon. But over the past month, Verizon has been giving me troubles to postpone the completion of the installment (from billing problems to technical problems). And now I still don't have phone or internet access at home, even though I am still paying monthly charges for the VoIP. So my question is other than Verizon dryloop, is there any other providers who can support my VoIP? I heard that AT&T can't do dryloop, is that true? What about cable, how much is it?
Do you need a ROUTER to use VoIP services like Vonage? I've spent 2 days trying to get my new VoIP phone to work. I got a SB5120 Motorola modem (does NOT have a built in router) and a Linksys adapter for my VoIP service. It is not assigning an IP address... therefore no internet.... therefore no dial tone! I don't have a router, do I need one to make my VoIP work? Why? I was able to plug all the wires exactly where they needed to go.... don't understand why I would need a router. Thanks thats what i'm confused about. i am able to connect the ethernet cable to my computer, and the cable to the ADA (VoIP adapter) and everything is plugged in nicely. So I don't understand why I don't get an internet connection.
