I'm just curious because I see all the vonage/skype/magicjack commercials advertising how you can save money on your phone calls, but if you already have to pay for a landline to even get internet service what's the point? Can you get DSL on a $0.00 local phone service? And then use Vonage on it? We are trying to get a local phone service and an internet connection at our new home, and we have been impressed at how expensive local phone service costs these days. We are going to be using a limited cell phone plan, so we want to be able to use our home phone for most of our phone calls. If we were to sign up for one of those $0.00 phone plans that only works for calling cards and toll free numbers (I'm looking at Verizon's "Away From Home Basic"), could we still use that to connect to DSL?
