Voip phones?
Can anyone tell me where I can find a cordless Voip phone for around $40? I don't want one that connects to the computer. I want one that has a base and I can put anywhere in the house. Thanks :)

- you can plug any standard phone (corded or cordless) into your VoIP phone adapter if you are talking about a softphone like skype, you are not going to find a wifi phone that cheap.. i just saw a netgear wifi skype phone in best buy today for 200. RANN: that would work with cable modem.. but if someone has DSL its not that simple... they will be disconnecting there DSL service if they do what you say..
- You want a VOIP telephone box that you can plug into a cordless phone. I have lingo. www.lingo. com. for 25 or 27 bucks, free long distance in the U.S., Canada and Western Europe. Domestic is around 17. What I did was go outside to the telephone junction box. I unhooked it from the main line. That made the telephone lines in my house connected but not to the main line. I then plugged in the VOIP box to a telephone outlet plug and presto! All phones in my house are now connected. They recommend that you hook the box up first and then to the router, but if you can, hook it up from the router. When the power fails, it has to reset and sometimes needs to be unplugged and reset by hand. If it's before the router, not only are you out of telephone service, but your internet connection is down as well. Forget trying to locate a cordless VIOP box. Just unhook your house's telephone lines from the main junction box outside, so that it's isolated, and plug the VIOP into a phone jack. It'll work with no problem.
