Cheapest VOIP phone service?

With fax capability? Also, how many phones can operate from the VOIP adapter?

  1. Nada, fax is extermely hard with cheap VOIP service. I beleive that TeleBlend (teleblend.com) is now providing faxing on their service for $19.95 p/mo. Also if your more interested in the services use AvayaTalk (avaya.com) they have a much wider bandwith, though service is a little more expensive.

I have Packet8 for almost 4 years now, and have an analog outlet on my base-phone/with build-in router/firewall....I use a stand alone fax machine from there.....I also have 10 extensions....one of them a blue-tooth.....free US and many foreign countries...! Europe: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Moscow-Central, Moscow-Suburb, St. Petersburg, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom. Asia: Australia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Latin America: Chile, Sao Paulo, Caracas, Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. Middle East: Israel. US territories: Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam You can have one ATA adopter, but use many extensions, that's the way I have set it up!!! no, you cant fax with skype....its a SIP service not truly a VoIP provider! I also use MagicJack for only 19.99 per year...
  4. cheapest VoIP thepudding.com (free ad based VoIP) but you need to use a headset and mic, second cheapest VoIP magicjack.com but like most other VoIP products out there is is unlikely to provide consistant results for faxing abilities.. best VoIP soloution for fax machines would be the VoIP provided by your cable company, (but you will need cable modem service from them as well, which is not a bad thing because cable modem is much better then dsl, and at least equal to fios) cable VoIP is the only service that can guarantee QoS, because they control the network and can provide priority to the voice (fax) packets traveling over there network

  6. I've tried sending faxes via a couple of different VOIP services. None of them are reliable. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Now I have a new solution: My DSL service here in France supplies an ADSL box with built in VOIP adapter. Calls to landlines are free to 70 international destinations. It also provides a "virtual fax" service, i.e. they gave me a second phone number (free of charge) for faxes. Incoming faxes are automatically converted to PDF files and then forwarded to my e-mail. When I want to send a fax, I convert it to a PDF file (or scan it if it is a physical document) and upload it via the provider's web site. This is charged at the same rate as thier VOIP, i.e. free to 70 destinations. All this (plus Internet and IPTV) for 30 euros a month. My point is, if DSL companies can do this in France, we can expect to see similar services in other countries too, although possibly for a higher price. In fact, there are a couple of web sites that provide similar fax services. I've checked out a couple of them - the prices vary a lot. Also the terms and codnitions.
