Voip Comparison

Does anybody know anything good about ATX communications Voip service?

My company has been solicited by several phone service providers including ATX and Paetec. They are trying to sell their Voip over T1 service and we are not sure if these companies are reputable or if the service is any better than our POTS and DSL. Any comments?

  1. Hiya! First thing I would recommend is reviewing their site. http://www.atx.com/ I was looking through the site, and have a few questions for you. One of the things, is that with their dedicated T1 for VoIP, they only allow 5 simultaneous conversations. And then sell additional blocks. A voice T1 contains 24 POTS lines. First you would need to determine by volume, how many inbound and outbound calls you have during peak times. Wouldn't it stink to need to make a business call out, and hearing from your phone system that all lines are currently in use or unavailable. Or even worse for the customers calling in, not being able to reach your company to purchase your companies product. I would check with other ISP's which can service your facility, and see what offerings and costs they have. Also, even in the case you decide to go with a VoIP provider (which will save money), make sure to have at least 1 POTS line from your local phone company for every 5 "simultaneous" conversation that the provider would offer. Remember, if you lose power, your phone systems would go out (while you may have battery backups, if it's an extended blackout, you still need to keep the business working). Joe
