Voip Comparison

Is Skype still the best free pc-to-pc VOIP service/choice for international calls? in particular to Brazil?

I have had problems to talk to family and friends in Brazil through Skype - calling from USA. Sometimes I either hear some noise in the connection or there is some delay to my voice to get there or they receive broken statements.... In sum, it is pretty rare when we can maintain a good conversation. Therefore, I was wondering if there is a better free VOIP pc to pc service out there that is worth trying. By the way, I have a high speed cable connection while they have a 28-56Kbps Adsl one. Thank you for your help! :)

  1. That is opinion. There is also ekiga, kphone, and linphone for voip services without international charges. If their connection is that slow, an application that uses less resources would be better.
  2. My wife is Brasilian like you & she uses Skype all the time to talk with her parents. I'd say it is good value for money, but a lot depends on the phone connection in Brasil & sometimes the connection is not the best. This isn't a problem with Skype, more a problem with bad phone connections. It's certainly the best value from Scotland. I don't know about the USA.
