- To get vonage you need high speed Internet. DSL is one option. (But you are right that DSL normally has a phone line associated with it.) Another option is cable. If you cable provider offers high speed Internet you can get a cable modem and vontage and then you would not need the phone land line. (Note there are other options depending on where you live, like "Naked" DSL without the phone line (but it is almost as expensive as getting the phone), A cellular modem card for your PC, Satellite broadband, etc... Unfortunately these all tend to be more expensive than just getting DSL and the phone line. Cable is about your best hope.) Good Luck
- You can use Vonage with a cable internet. However, I don't think you would be able to get a new phone number from them. If you choose DSL, you can get a telephone number from your local carrier then get the basic phone plan, which is $16 a month.
- I would not recommend getting Vonage, I got it about a year ago and still have it till this day, I have that phone line with Verizon now because I could not get it to work and cancelled within the time and they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee, even when they say no contracts and no commitment, once you pay your first bill with a credit card they will keep charging every month for your bill, even if you don't use the service. Look up on goggle and see all the complaints for this service provider. I am filing a complaint they also have really bad customer service
