trouble with Vonage?

Have you tried to cancel your Vonage service? GOOD LUCK!! I called to cancel in January and they said fine. But Vonage has charged my card every month since then. I called yesterday to straighten it out. Vonage REFUSES to cancel my service, Vonage WILL NOT give me a confirmation number to confirm cancelling, and Vonage REFUSES to stop charging my credit card. I researched Vonage on the internet and found HUNDREDS of complaints about this very thing. See www.ripoffreport.com and type Vonage in the search box for yourself to see. Has this happened to you? How did you handle it?

  1. My sister signed up for Vonage & had nothing but trouble!!!!!!!! When you called her, the phone would ring & ring but on her end she couldn't hear anything, then she couldn't make a call. The kept sending her her new modems. It was a real pain in the ass!!!! She eventually switched back, she had no problems switching back
  2. yes....I have read your post with interest!!! and I feel for you .....! so I will post a reply and some tips on HOW do deal with Vonage....and all the others too....! 1. most VoIP providers do not pro-rate when you cancel, so cancel around the 15th of the month... 2. VERY IMPORTANT....before you cancel....change your credit card with a virtual credit card number (you can get a temporary virtual CC number from almost any carrier...! I have Citibank CC and they give you a 30-6-90 day expiration date, you choose!! ( yes... its perfectly legal) 3. the next thing that will happen now, and thats the funny part....Vonage will contact you....asking for the payment....now!!! the ball is in your court.....you tell them that you can canceled 3 month ago.....and Vonage will reply no such knowledge of any one cancel your account!!! ( they are trained to say that) 4. this is the only way to deal with them.....they get what they deserve, and you are not out of your money!! keep in mind that Vonage makes alot of money from disconnection .......cancellation fees and keeping ppl money from the credit cards!
  3. call your state or local govermant. and file a report. with them about Vonage.
  4. Forget about Vonage. With all the problems I had, I couldn't take it anymore. A friend told me about http://www.workingphone.com . I've been happy ever since.
