Using a Fax Machine on my DSL/Voip Phone Line... help..?

so this fax machine i have seems to be a piece of junk. Even when it was hooked up to a dedicated phone line it had problems with dialing, getting EASILY jammed, so i want to replace it. I think i found a good Multi Function Brother 7220 Model that seems like it will work good even has a laser printer, but i read a review on Staples.com and it said that the fax wont work well in an enviornment where its using the same shared line as the DSL. Is this going to be a problem with all fax machines sharing a phone line with a voip/dsL ? this is for work at my home office and I do use the fax daily to fax things up to my parents home office. what if i plug my fax machine into a splitter thing ?

  1. If the line it an "internet phone" line even one provided by the phone CO a fax machine can have problems. Fax machine are designed to run on a standard "analogue" phone line, and the way the data is transmitted on VOIP style lines is different an causes problems. Ask your provider for a standard alalogue phone line, with DSL over it and you will be fine
