Voip Comparison

What makes Vonage disconnect for few seconds and come back?

Is it possible phone battries need replacement, or is it Vonage? This problem had been happening for a while now, old router and after we bought a new router.. It's basically whether we call or receive calls phone has to at least connection drops for few seconds [meaning complete silence] then call is back as if nothing happened; sometimes it takes longer time. What might have been the problem?

  1. its because of your router. the routers lights should be on. if all of them are off and one is blinking reset it
  2. Vonnage is a primarily VOIP ( Voice Over Internet Protocol ) phone service. So basically your voice is sent through the Internet. The voice data is broken into what they call packets. Then these packets are sent through the net. If you were to symbolize the infrastructure of a state, the autos would be voice data, the freeways or highways would be conventional telephone lines, and the city streets and country roads would be the Internet. Now picture a convoy of vehicles traveling from one point to another. Say each vehicle carried a word and the whole convoy made a sentence. If you were waiting at the end point and the convoy traveled by the highway or freeway you would be able to read the message as it arrived because the convoy would stay on one road in one line. If the convoy was given the end point, and instructed not to drive on major highways or freeways, the arrival of each vehicle would vary because of how many alternate routes via city streets and country back roads. So at the end point you wouldn't be able to read the message until all vehicles arrived and were in order. Same difference in the phone lines and Internet. The delay on the VOIP Phone services is because the end point is waiting for all the information packets and there may be too much Internet traffic. Usually the delay isn't more than a fraction of a second. If it was longer than a second and a half the call would drop. It may seem longer in complete silence when you're into a conversation. You may be able to eliminate this with a better phone, better adapter, or the use of a soft phone with upgraded software.
